Los Angeles based Kitten visited Studio1290 recently to record an exclusive unplugged set from their Sunday School EP. The band’s collective youth is dangerously deceptive at first glance, and yet, mere seconds into their set one could easily be deceived into thinking that this is a well traveled ensemble of industry veterans.

Sunday School is teeming with confident vocals, well crafted melodies, searing guitars and pounding drums. The actual strength and maturity of Kitten’s songs is perhaps most evident when heard in a sparse and vulnerable acoustic set. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Serena Ryder began performing and recording music at the age of 15. Since then she has been writing indie- folk-rock gems and performing alongside artists such as Aerosmith, Jason Castro and Needtobreathe, just to name a few. Her music has won her critical acclaim and a handful of awards and has been featured in television shows including ABC’s Private Practice. Serena dropped into Studio1290 to record some exclusive acoustic versions of songs from her album Is it O.K. on Atlantic Records. She also performed a brilliant version of Bruce Springsteen’s song “Racing In The Street” which was featured on The Boss’s website for a series called Hanging on E-Street. Check it out.

This sibling fronted band from Pennsylvania rocks! Atlantic recording artist Halestorm descended upon Studio1290 shredding through an exclusive cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”. This hard working band rarely stops touring and has performed alongside numerous bands including Megadeth, Shinedown, Disturbed, Buckcherry, Theory of a Deadman, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Staind, Seether, Papa Roach and Chevelle just to name a few. We had a great time with the band a look forward to having them back in the studio soon!

Founded by brothers Patrick and Nathan Meese, the band Meese hails from Denver, Colorado and weaves a tight blend of pop and rock, similar to peers and tour mates The Fray and Switchfoot. The band has also been on the road with artists including Paramore, Our Lady Peace, Phantom Planet and Dropping Daylight. Singer songwriter Anya Marina’s music has been featured on television shows Grey’s Anatomy, The Real World, The United States of Tara, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and Castle and was featured on the Twilight: New Moon motion picture soundtrack. Anya Marina got her start in the music industry as a radio DJ in San Diego, CA and has since gone on to perform alongside notable artists including Jason Mraz, Rhett Miller, Eric Hutchinson and Chris Isaak. Anya spent some time at Studio1290 recording some intimate acoustic versions of songs from her most recent Atlantic Records release Slow and Steady Seduction: Phase 2.
